CoGe and OSC #1

Tags:

A new feature of CoGe Beta 3 is the OSC capability, and there are a lots of territory where it can be useful. Here is the first demo about the OSC related BPM syncing in CoGe – well, now we can set/get BPM to/from CoGe via OSC from any OSC capable application.

In this little video i made a little patch in Quartz Composer to playback an audio file with given speed – and syncing CoGe with that BPM value via OSC.

Check this out:

I’m also made a new player module for this, download it: BPM-Synced Movie player

More info about CoGe OSC BPM syncing and example patches for Quartz Composer, Processing, Pure Data, Max/MSP and the .wav player patch available for download here.

Time to housekeeping

I recently receiving crash reports, and when  took a look to the console messages, in the most cases the users have 2 copys of the same QCPlugins and/or in the wrong place, for example:

*** QCPlugIn: There is already a QCPlugIn registered for class "v002525PlugIn"

Duplicated QCPlugins can screw up the system, present crashes, so it’s tame to make some house-keeping:

  • be sure you don’t have duplicated copys of your plugins in ~/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-ins/ and in yourusername/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-ins/
  • be sure Kineme Plugins installed on ~/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches/ or yourusername/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Patches/ not in Plug-ins!

The Kineme crew’s Kineme Core 0.5.1 plugin has some usefull function (PlugIn Installation Assistant, PlugIn Manager) to fix your wrong installed plugins, it’s very handy, i recommend it if you haven’t too much time to checking your system’s directory structure
